22 year old defense contractor under investigation for fraud

House to investigate defense contract to firm that shipped Chinese-made ammo to Afghanistan

Apparently, when it comes to hiring defense contractors, our government does, indeed, look beyond the resumes of the current administration. Efraim E. Diveroli, a young Miami man (he’s currently 22, he was 19 when all this crap started) succeeded in starting up his own business and was hired by the United States government to supply ammunition to Afghanistan on a $300 million contract. This would be a wee bit loony if it stopped there. But no, there’s more. Diveroli was shipping decomposing ammunition that was as much as 40 years old, much of it from the old Communist bloc. Much of the ammunition had to be discarded by the military as it was too old and defective. The company was also shipping Chinese-made ammunition, a violation of U.S. law and its contract. Needless to say, he’s in a wee bit of trouble right now.

Don’t stories like this make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? This really is the American dream, right?

Scooter Libby (Remember Him?) Disbarred

Published by Jessica under Politics

Libby Disbarred by D.C. Court

I know we don’t often like to think about that nasty business of members of our government conspiring to blow the cover of CIA agent, especially with such big election news going on last week (that was my sarcastic voice) – but it’s worth noting that I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby will be losing his law license until at least 2012.

You may recall that Libby was found guilty of lying to investigators looking into who leaked Valerie Plame Wilson’s identity as an undercover CIA agent to reports. However, Libby’s jail sentence was commuted by George W. Bush. Losing your law license is kind of small potatoes for such an egregious act, but I suppose it’s better than nothing. … … … Maybe.

Hillary Clinton: A liar or a really bad mother – it’s gotta be one or the other

The Latest on the Clinton/Bosnia “I Misspoke” Incident

Hillary Clinton arriving in Bosnia with daughter Chelsea

I don’t particularly feel the need to say a lot about this issue, as it seems like the mainstream media is finally taking notice of this major gaffe by Clinton (will she and her minions come after me if I call it a lie, it’s unclear to me). Still, there’s one thing that I don’t get, and maybe it’s just me. If it was so damn dangerous in Bosnia, why the hell would she bring her daughter with her!?! Surely she remembered that Chelsea was there. Surely it would occur to her that that might seem odd to some people, that she would take her daughter with her to a place where sniper fire was coming down. Anyone? No? Just me?

Presidential Priorities: Easter Bunny > 4,000 Dead in Iraq

Bush hugs a bunny

Bush Hugs The Easter Bunny During The Annual White House Egg Roll

It’s comforting to know that our President has his priorities in place. Bush didn’t address the grim milestone that was reached in Iraq this weekend until late yesterday. It’s understandable, what with his busy schedule of Easter egg rolls and bunny hugging. I suppose it’s better than the response we got from Cheney on the matter, though.
