Mad Men hires former Buffy writer

I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t yet watched Mad Men, though it is currently sitting in my Netflix queue. Still, I’ve been keeping my eye on it, especially since it’s become home base for a lot of Whedon alum including Angel‘s Vincent Kartheiser and Firefly‘s Christina Hendricks. But now their adding a little Joss to their writing staff with the addition of Marti Noxon who was not only a member of the Buffy writing staff, she also served as an executive producer in the last two seasons of the show and sang about not wearing any underwear in the musical episode. Noxon’s forte on Buffy was writing those soul-crushing break-up scenes that always had you reaching for the tissues. Some of my favorites of hers include “Surprise,” “I Only Have Eyes for You,” “The Wish” and, as tearjerkers go, it’s a toss-up between Buffy and Angel’s break-up in “The Prom” and Willow and Oz’s in “Wild at Heart.” It will be interesting to see her bring her talents to Mad Men. Now, I just need to start watching. :)

As more episodes were written, Weiner said he employed an unusual number of women for a television show, including Lisa Albert, supervising producer; Robin Vieth, staff writer; Marti Noxon, consulting producer; and the husband and wife writing team Andre and Maria Jacquemetton, supervising producers.
