The vacation President

As the sun sets on the Bush presidency, he’s spending his last days at Camp David. It’s understandable. After all, CBS News notes that, all told, Bush will have spent 487 days of his time in office at the Presidential vacation spot. I’m sure he’ll miss it.
In addition, Bush has also spent 490 days of his presidency at his ranch in Crawford, Texas.
That’s 977 days…or 140 weeks…or 2.7 years of vacation. It rounds out to be about 33% of his total days in office. A third of his presidency was spent on vacation. I don’t know about you, but I haven’t had anywhere near that much vacation in the last eight years.
Still, I can comfort myself with the thought that had he actually shown up to work for those 977 days, he might have managed to screw a few more things up.
So long, Mr. President. Now you can spend the rest of your life on vacation!

In all fairness, when the President wants to talk to someone, they will come to him. Also, all those secured video feeds probably make these vacation days possible too.
I know that it’s possible for him to do work on vacation (you know, when he wasn’t playing golf or clearing brush),but there’s kind of reason that we have Presidents move into the White House and not just work out of their homes.
Oh, totally agreed. If a person hates Washington so much, why run for a job that makes you move there?
