Could it be? A Veronica Mars movie?

Published by Jessica at 9:35 pm under Movies,Television

There have been rumors and whisper for awhile now about the possibility of Veronica Mars continuing in film or comic book form. Personally, I haven’t paid them a whole lot of notice. I don’t want to get my hopes up too much. Still, this most recent bit of news comes from the horse’s mouth:

“That means I have time to write the VERONICA MARS movie,” he said explaining the advantage of the cut down of the series order. “But my writing the movie is half the battle. Someone else has to pay for it. Joel Silver does have a certain pile of money. He called on me saying ‘Can we do this now?’ Kristen [Bell] wants to do it. Joel wants to do it and I want to do it. For me, that’s the next project.”

There you have it. Series creator Rob Thomas, himself, says that a reduced episode order on the re-boot of his previously cancelled show Cupid means that he’ll have free time to write the Mars movie. A script does not a movie make, but if Joel Silver’s really calling him to bust his chops about it, that does give it a little weight. Thomas also says that they’ll be jettisoning the FBI plot that they played with to try to get renewed. I know a lot of people liked the bit they filmed and put on the DVD, I wasn’t especially psyched about it, myself. Instead, Thomas says they’ll likely pick up a few days before Veronica’s graduation from Hearst College.

Mark me down as cautiously optimistic.
