Tara is a hit
Steven Spielberg and Diablo Cody are sitting pretty now that the numbers are in for their new show, The United States of Tara. The Hollywood Reporter says that the show’s premiere had better ratings than the series premieres of Showtime’s most popular shows, including Weeds and Dexter.
The first airing of “Tara” was seen by 880,000 viewers — a figure that swells to 1.5 million including extra airings and online streaming, according to Showtime.
This is especially impressive considering that Showtime was offering the premiere episode online weeks before it aired and holding watch parties the previous weekend at movie theaters. Looks like Tara and her many personalities will be here to kick around for a bit.
