David Simon’s new HBO pilot coming together
As someone who recently tore through all five season of The Wire and was very impressed by Generation Kill, I am 100% on board for whatever David Simon does next. Well, it seems that now we know.
THR is reporting that Simon is working on a new pilot called Treme, named for an area of New Orleans. The show will focus on the rebuilding of the drowned city by focusing on the lives of local musicians. Actors Steve Zahn (who will apparently show of his musical talents) and Deadwood‘s Kim Dickens are currently in talks to star in the series. Wire veteran Wendell Pierce, Clark Peters and Khandi Alexander have already been cast.
Simon’s gritty and realistic style seems perfect for this project. I’m really anxious to see what he does with it, it sounds like it could really be something special. I certainly hope that they intend to shoot the project in New Orleans, goodness knows the town could use the revenue.
