Glee Check-Up

Given it’s early start date and the fact that the premiere episode aired months ago, I’m a little later to the Glee discussion than I would have liked. However, I am really happy that my tardiness meant that I got to see “Mash-Up,” which is easily my favorite episode of the show so far, before I delved into the problems I have with the show that everyone else seems to think is golden.

Cougar Town Check-Up

A lot of the early buzz surrounding Cougar Town seemed solely based on the show’s polarizing name. For me, however, all I cared about was that this was the new show from Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence. What I think might surprise a lot of people that were turned off by the “cougar” aspect of Cougar Town is how sweet and heartfelt this show actually is.

Modern Family Check-Up

When I first read the blurbs about Modern Family, prior to the start of the new TV season, I had no intention of watching the show. It sounded rather dull and kind of a cookie-cutter sitcom. As the premiere date grew closer, though, positive buzz for the show began to grow and I began to be convinced that I should maybe lend this show some of my time. I’m really glad I did.

The Good Wife Check-Up

I made a promise to myself that, this TV season, I’d give any new shows I watched five episodes before I decided to dump them as I feel I’ve been a bit hasty in the past (though, to be fair, I did break that rule with Stargate: Universe, but I had never really intended on permanently watching that show anyway). Unfortunately, I have to say that The Good Wife will be the first new subscription on my DVR to be deleted. I feel a little bad about it because it’s not a terrible show and it clearly has an admirable feminist agenda, but, in the end, it’s just not very memorable.
