Community Check-Up

Published by Jessica under Television

Community, along with Glee, seems to be the new fall show that friends of mine have really latched on to. I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit (with such an awesome cast, how can you not), but I feel like the show hasn’t quite hit its stride yet.

Creative Casting: Chuck keeps raking them in

Published by Jessica under Television

My hat is off to the the folks in charge of casting over at Chuck. They’ve been doing a fantastic job of supplementing this season’s great storytelling with eye-catching guest stars that fit nicely into the atmosphere of the show. In the first eleven episodes of the show we’ve seen great turns from Arrested Development‘s Tony Hale, Michael Rooker (of Tombstone and Mallrats fame), Die Hard‘s Reginald VelJohnson, Gary Cole, Morgan Fairchild, Alias‘s Carl Lumbly, Jordana Brewster, Nicole Richie, John Larroquette and Michael Clarke Duncan. Yowza!

Some recent casting announcements have made it clear that the star power isn’t going away anytime soon. Fans of the show know that Chuck promised his big sister that he would track down their estranged father in time for her wedding and Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausellio has the scoop on who will be filling those parental shoes. It will be none other than Quantum Leap and Enterprise star Scott Bakula! I never got into Enterprise, but as someone who used to watch Quantum Leap with my mom every week, this makes me pretty happy.

And if Bakula doesn’t get your engines running, there’s more. THR.com reports that none other than Chevy Chase will be appearing for a three-episode arc that will actually involve Bakula’s character. I was somewhat disappointed will Mel Gibson-inspired Chase’s guest spot Law & Order, so I’m hoping that a stint on a show that’s actually known for being funny will fit him a little better.

Add to this the earlier reports that Battlestar Galactica‘s Tricia Helfer and Lost‘s Dominic Monaghan will also be dropping for the second half of Chuck’s season and it seems like an argument could be made that Must See TV is indeed happening at 7pm Monday nights on NBC.
